STARVING DOGS ARE NOT ART - PLEASE HELP Sunday, Apr 20 2008
Uncategorized 12:39 am

Dear GCS readers -
In 2007, the ‘artist’ Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, took a dog from the
street, tied him to a rope in an art gallery, and allowed him to starve
to death. For several days, the ‘artist’ and the visitors of the
exhibition watched the dog’s agony, until eventually he died. Does this
sound like art to you?
But this is not all… the prestigious Visual Arts Biennial of
Central America decided that the ‘installation’ was actually art, so
that Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel
action for the biennial of 2008.
We can do nothing for this little dog other than to make sure that
his death was not in vain and that this atrocity will not be allowed to
happen again. Please sign the petition and forward it as widely as you
can.
PLEASE HELP STOP THIS INSANITY…

Absolutely discusting, makes me ashamed to be a modern artist. Id like to starve and tie the artist up and happily watch him die instead.

It angers me too, VR.

This is absolutely beyond belief. If this is what an Artist is then the art world deserves all the critism it receives for not being seen to be integral to the lives of mankind. I curse all those that took part in this barbaric exhibition and shame on all those who visited the gallery. The gallery should be shut down and this so called artist should be imprisoned for acts of cruelty. What next for this artist - tying up some povety stricken child to a rope and watch it starve?
The world is watching China right now because of its poor human rights policies but it should be watching this country and any other that condones these atroncious acts.

This isn’t just an issue of this horrific act not being art, and the man not being a real artist, this has to do with he and anyone who stood by and watched this go on not even being human. Honestly, ‘people’ like this should be locked up because obviously they are psychologically broken! Where are their souls?

appauling. I’m completely disgusted with the lack of humanity - not only from the twisted mind that did this, but to those that chose to “respect” the act and did nothing to stop it. everyone involved from this self-proclaimed artist, to the gallery and on to the spectators should be brought up on cruelty chages.

My sentiments accord with all those who decry and detest such an act. This is categorically NOT art, but a travesty of humanity. It is representative of a twisted and perverse generation. If this demonstration were designed to “make a point” the ends do not justify the means. We saw government funding given here (Adelaide, South Australia) several years ago for a depiction in which a glass case of starving flies were watched dying. Now it is a dog. How soon before such atrocities will be perpetrated on a human for public entertainment?!

I can only agree with the previous comments on this so called ‘ART’ - what a sickening joke!!! This is absolutely disgusting and i feel that the ‘humans’ who attended this gallery are just as much to blame as the ‘artist’ for attending (and probably paying!!) to attend this ‘exhibition’. This is an ‘exhibition’ of animal curely at its best and all should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. True ‘art’ envokes open and honest discussion, does not make its viewers physically sick and ashamed. This so called ‘artist’ and his ‘guests’ their own conscience to live with…shame on you all!!!
