FORT COLLINS, Colorado -- Zoey is being called a hero, after protecting a baby from a 3 foot long rattlesnake.
Monty Long's one-year-old grandson was playing outside when the snake slithered up.
Long says the five pound chihuahua jumped in when the snake got too close.
"She just knew, she knew the baby was in danger".
The rattlesnake bit Zoey above her eye, but Long says she's a survivor.
Long eventually killed the snake. Source

The N.Y.Times has an article about two choices of animal hospitals with the best specialists in the city.
Animal Medical Center on East 62nd Street, long recognized for its pioneering treatments and its annual Top Dog charity gala attended by Manhattan’s social elite. At one soiree, Barbara Walters told of how Brooke Astor, an honorary trustee, famously said, “If I ever get really sick, take me to the Animal Medical Center.”
And NYC Veterinary Specialists, a for-profit hospital that opened last fall on West 55th Street. Read article.
* I was pleased with the emergency care Kobey-Rose received when I had to rush her by taxi to Animal Medical Center, after she accidentally ate rat poison as a puppy. She kept scooting under the kitchen sink to explore when I first brought her home. I thought I had cleaned under there really well until she came out with a green chin. I freaked when I realized what that was. Called my vet, got a recording with the emergency info for the hospital, put her in her Sherpa bag and off we went. The waiting room was filled but they took her right away and pumped her stomach and she was fine. The doctors and nurses were very kind to us both and I was so happy when they brought her back out to me and she was all Frenchie smiles and licks.

Tammy Faye Messner was one of the few evangelical Christians who had the support of the gay community. She was one of the first televangelists to reach out to those with AIDS when it was a little-known and much-feared disease. “When we lost everything, it was the gay people that came to my rescue, and I will always love them for that.” Recently on Larry King Live, Tammy said that she was in constant pain but had no fear of death. Even at her lowest point, her faith was unshakable. After fighting a very brave fight with inoperable lung cancer, she let go on July 20, 2007 and her body has been cremated.
Our heart’s are sad, but we are glad that she is no longer in pain. May she rest in peace.
